Spotsylvania is a historic county just south and west of Fredericksburg with a population of around 133,000 residents. Together with Fredericksburg it was the site of four civil war battles and is a popular tourist destination for civil war buffs. The county is bordered by the Rappahannock river to the north and Lake Anna to the south.
The county is mostly rural with dense population centers close to Fredericksburg. It has excellent access to shopping and medical care as well as Mary Washington University. The median household income is around $80,000 and the median price of homes was around $285,000 in 2018.
